Probably one of the nicest houses our family has ever rented. Very immaculate inside. I first noticed the number of oriental carpets that we're all over the house ( I love oriental carpets). And very nice ones I might add. Furniture was so comfortable and nice. The two rocking chairs placed by the window that views the lake were our favorites. Master bedroom "custom shower" was a treat. All my kids wanted to use our bathroom. Three shower heads and plenty of space. The Deck outside: Without question the nicest deck I've seen in a rental property. We spent a lot of time on the deck. Hot tub was unreal with lights and outdoor stereo. You can also tell the owners were into plants as they were a beautiful compliment to the whole surroundings. Plants were very well maintained which really added to the eloquent look a feel to this home. The dock was very nice and adequate to have both a large pontoon and jet ski with furniture as well. We also used the kayak and standup water board which was a big hit. The house was furnished with more amenities than any we have ever rented. Stocked full of cooking utensils and plenty of cooking spices which was nice. The TV in the family room was very nice with direct TV satellite service ( very nice ). The only wish I could mention would be to add TV's in all the rooms with DVDs players in case people wanted to watch different shows. In summary, I would highly recommend this fabulous place to anyone wanting an upscale home. We thoroughly enjoyed this place and would rent again. The owner was a jewel to work with and you can tell she cares about her clients and properties. I imagine she has lots of returning clients.

Our experience with this property was nothing short of outstanding. The accommodations are spacious, well equipped, well maintained, clean, and very homey. The lodge has a great view of the lake and the deck and hot tub is one of the most beautiful on the lake. The hot tub was a major hit with my whole family. We took advantage of the paddleboard rental and my kids had a lot of fun with that. The owner provides excellent customer service, and is a great communicator. We dined at Heath's a couple of evenings which is probably the closest restaurant to the lodge - and it was superb - a little tricky to find, but the food, service, and view were superb. I would highly recommend this house to friends or relatives - in fact, we have already recommended it to another family who has a daughter graduating from Liberty next year.

We had a wonderful three night stay at this house with my family of six. The view was great and things were exactly as described. We loved the ample space on the deck and especially loved the private dock. The house was clean and the owner responded immediately when I had a question. We would definitely recommend this house to others!

Beautiful Home, Great location on Lake

​We have been coming to Smith Mountain Lake over the past ten years. No home has this type of view on the lake. The house sits on a hill that overlooks the lake, then deep woods across the cove and then Smith Mountain and its mountain range….so peaceful and so beautiful! The house is well equipped with everything you could possibly need for cooking. We have never rented a home in which the owner has supplied everything you need from sugar, spices and all the large platers and dishes necessary for great entertaining. It is a perfect house for large gatherings, with so many different comfortable sitting areas. My favorite however is the two rocking recliners by the window…what a view! The house is really unbelievably furnished for a rental, with oriental carpets and expensive but comfortable furniture throughout. We loved the master bathroom… it is amazing! Since we know the lake so well, I can assure you there is no place anywhere that offers the peaceful swimming and kayaking that this no wake cove provides. Jet ski boat traffic is so bad in some of the coves that it would simply be too dangerous to swim. The other thing that we love about Cedar Key Resort is that it offers the opportunity to rent some of the other cabins if we want more of our friends or extended family to vacation. It allows for everyone to have their own space but a great central gathering place. Another plus is the drive into the resort. The mile hardwood wood lined road reminded both of us of the song “Country Roads”, just perfect for our morning or evening walks. Whenever we visit this beautiful lake, we will be staying at Cedar Key Lodge. The owners are committed to making sure your vacation is perfect, a dedication that is not always provided thru rental companies. Thank you for a wonderful family vacation!

This is our fourth vacation at the Lodge at Cedar Key and it won’t be our last. We just love it and the owners are terrific. They go way beyond the call of duty to make our vacations perfect and the house keeping staff are terrific. We inevitable need to call about a restaurant or a garage etc. and they are so helpful in directing us to the best local service. The house is always clean as well; you can tell they take pride in their work. The house is just perfect for friend and family entertainment; we just love the openness of the house and its flow. We try to come in the spring because that is when the fishing is the best. We often catch large stripers right off the docks because it is in deep water. Try night fishing, that is when you will have the best luck! Hope you have as much fun as we always do. I am sure you will love it.

Terrific Experience for Family, May 2013

​My brother had his 40th birthday so we traveled up for this to see him in Salem with the rest of our family and took the opportunity to take a short vacation. It was the first week our children, from SC, were out of school, so they looked forward to some time on the lake. The property was very nice with a huge open area looking out on the lake. The owners had graciously provided lots of cooking utensils and there were even staples in the pantry which helped out a lot. We brought our 12-year-old daughter and 10 year old son. The dock was perfect for swimming -- the no wake cove created a peaceful area where the kids could jump into the water and play. Since our kids are good swimmers after a while we watched them from the lodge when we tired of hanging out by the lake. We rented kayaks the first two day - the kids went on some short excursions in the no wake cove area. My wife and I also swam in the blue water. My wife is a little more accomplished at swimming than I, so swam several miles over our vacation. The water was perfect temperature, not hot like SC lakes often are. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we rented a Speed Boat from Mitchel Marina. We pulled the kids on a tube and a knee board. We had the lake to ourselves as VA schools were still in session and it was midweek. Couldn't ask for better conditions. We took the boat to Crazy Horse marina and had an excellent lunch at the Mexican restaurant. Otherwise, we ate at the lodge. The kids had pancakes about every day. Interestingly, we brought Trader Joe's pancake mix with us and there was an identical box already there ... During the stay we saw many deer including families of deer and a faun, wild turkeys and lots of birds. The view was peaceful and restful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. On another note, Greg, the owner, is an author and had left a proof of his book, Second Chance, which is a work of fiction. I read the book and thoroughly enjoyed it. The book tapped into the Native American view of the world that we should respect nature and grow in harmony with it instead of being disconnected from it. The book was well written and I wish him the best of luck in getting it published.

Visiting Family in Roanoke area with Short Vacation on Smith Mountain Lake, June 2012

My best friends and I are all turning 30 this year and came to the Cedar Key Elegant Home for the weekend for fun. We were not disappointed in the least! The owners had everything we needed in the kitchen to do all the cooking we like to do. The deck was beautiful and the windows in the back of the house make it so you can sit inside and still have gorgeous lake views. We sat on the deck most of the weekend and looked out at the lake, sipping wine. It was PERFECTION!!! The bathrooms and beds were great, too. We loved cooking in the beautiful kitchen. We loved the satellite tv, too. I wish we were back there right now!!! Alisha was very communicative and responsive and such a nice person to talk to - a very attentive owner. I can't say enough good things. I will never forget it. We will be back!!! Thanks Alicia!

Fun Get-Away

First, I must say that working with Alicia Yowell was a dream. She’s very professional, but also has a warmth that made me feel like I was simply an old friend borrowing the home for a bit. The layout of the house is perfect. Very open, with bedrooms secluded. Our family most enjoyed the outdoor space. The deck is beautiful! We made a lot of use of the dock and the canoe. Views are wonderful and being in the “no wake” area made for a very pleasant stay. My children enjoyed having their own space and all of us agreed that the beds were very comfortable. The adults enjoyed the recliners looking out onto the lake, and the whole family enjoyed having supper and playing board games on the deck. The house is fully furnished with more than enough seats for everyone to have a favorite spot (or three!). The house was stocked with games and puzzles and movies. Checkout was a breeze. We hope to be able to return in the summer someday to add swimming to our lake adventures.

Tranquil & pristine lake ... Water was so clean and warm, even the fish were jumping with joy!! Lovely home.  Great entertainment system. Hot tub was fabulous. The kitchen is loaded with everything imaginable to cook anything! I loved the fresh herbs growing just outside :) The deck is beautiful as well as the dock at the water's edge. Kayaks were great for exploring nearby coves. Alicia (the owner) is absolutely delightful! This home is truly unique ... We can't wait to come back next year!

I wanted the "On Golden Pond" experience for our family where we could enjoy the quiet beauty of a beautiful lake and surrounding nature. This home is the essence of this. We swam, kayaked, canoed, and paddle boarded during the day from our private deck. You are at a no wake zone and Smith Mountain Lake is pristine where fish swim at your feet. This home is like staying at a thoughtful relative's house. No detail has been overlooked to make you feel at home. Views, views, and more views from every angle of the property. The home is very well equipped for everything from preparing dinners to simply relaxing. We enjoyed our dinners each night on the massive multiple decks followed by star gazing from the six person hot tub. There is surround sound system in the hot tub and the tub commands.
